UCLA Selected Fifth in Pac-12 Poll

SAN FRANCISCO – The UCLA men's basketball team has been chosen fifth in the Pac-12 Conference's preseason media poll, as announced at Pac-12 media day on Thursday.

Arizona was selected first in the preseason poll, receiving 18 of 36 possible first-place votes. California was picked to finish second, earning nine first-place votes, while Utah was chosen third, picking up seven first-place votes. Oregon and UCLA were selected fourth and fifth, respectively, with each school securing one first-place vote.

Oregon State was selected sixth, followed by Colorado and Arizona State. Stanford, USC, Washington and Washington State rounded out the final four teams in the preseason poll, respectively.

Media have correctly picked the conference's regular-season champion 14 times in 23 tries. Arizona has been correctly selected in nine of the previous 14 times it has been slated to capture the league crown.

The 2015-16 season gets underway for the Pac-12 with 11 games on Friday, Nov. 13. All but one of those games will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks as part of this year's Full Court Friday.

UCLA will begin its regular-season schedule against Monmouth in Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 13. Game time is 8 p.m.

The Bruins, who return three of five starters from last season's team, will host an exhibition game against Cal State Los Angeles in Pauley Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 30. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
