April 20, 2022 | Women's Golf

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 17 UCLA women's golf team shot a 1-over 289 on day two to move to sixth place at the Pac-12 Championships at Eugene Country Club on Tuesday.

The Bruins are five strokes back of No. 2 Oregon in first place following the conclusion of a delayed round two on Wednesday morning.

Round three is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. PT. The forecast for the Pac-12 Championships finale calls for showers throughout the day with a high temperature of 42 degrees.

Three Bruins – Alessia Nobilio, Emilie Paltrinieri and Caroline Canales – are situated in the top 12 after two rounds. Nobilio leads the UCLA lineup in sixth place at even par 144, six strokes behind Oregon's Hsin-Yu Lu who shot up four spots to first place following a 6-under 66 in her second round.

Nobilio shot an even par 72 in round two with just one bogey and one birdie to go along with 16 pars.

Paltrinieri and Canales are both tied for 12th at 3-over 147. Paltrinieri led the Bruins with their only under-par performance of the second round (-1, 71). Aside from a double bogey on the par-4 10th, Paltrinieri was near-perfect with three birdies and no other pluses on her scorecard.

Canales shot a 3-over 72 in round two with all three bogeys coming on the front nine. Canales parred every hole on the back nine.

Junior Emma Spitz scatted three birdies and four bogeys in her second round (+1, 73) to climb up six spots to T-25th.

Freshman Zoe Antoinette Campos came in as a substitution for sophomore Ty Akabane in the second round and dialed up a 1-over 73 in her replacement. Campos had three birdies in her round.
