Women's Tennis Trio Collects All-Conference Accolades

SAN FRANCISCO – Abbey Forbes, Elysia Bolton and Kimmi Hance garnered All-Conference honors, the Pac-12 announced Wednesday following a vote by its head coaches.

Forbes made the First Team for the second time in as many years. Bolton was also recognized for the second time in her career, earning a spot on the Second Team. Hance made the Honorable Mention cut in her first season eligible.

Forbes, the ITA's No. 25 singles player, made the NCAA singles tournament Tuesday. She has a 13-4 singles record, including an 11-2 mark in dual matches. Forbes, who has recorded all but one of her decisions on the top singles court, has wins against top-100 opponents No. 5 Eryn Cayetano of USC, 6-4, 7-5 (Feb. 25), No. 11 Shiori Fukuda of Pepperdine, 6-3, 6-4 (April 6) and No. 91 Michaela Bayerlova of Washington State, 6-1, 6-4 (April 2). The victory versus Cayetano clinched the Bruins' non-conference triumph over the Trojans. In doubles play, she is 8-6. Forbes and Ava Catanzarite have top-20 wins opposite No. 11 Victoria Flores/Lisa Zaar of Pepperdine, 6-3 (Feb. 5) and No. 19 Salma Ewing/Snow Han of USC, 6-2, (Feb. 25).

Bolton logged a memorable result against No. 6 Cayetano, turning a 2-6, 1-5 deficit into a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory (April 15). She has also beaten nationally-ranked counterparts No. 34 Marlee Zein of Florida, 6-4, 6-4 (Jan. 14), and No. 51 Jessica Alsola of California, 6-3, 6-2 (Feb. 21). Bolton is currently ranked No. 58 among singles players by the ITA, possessing a 10-5 singles record (8-4 in dual matches). On the doubles court, Bolton has established a good rapport with Elise Wagle, as UCLA's most-frequent top-court duo is 12-3 with a 10-2 dual-match showing. They have prevailed in four out of five versus nationally-ranked pairs, including their last two against No. 62 Bayerlova /Maxine Murphy of the Cougars, 6-0 (April 21), and No. 13 Angelica Blake/Connie Ma of Stanford, 6-2 (April 22). Those decisions helped boost the ranking of Bolton/Wagle to No. 29, where it stands now.

Hance is a combined 22-1 in singles (10-1) and doubles (12-0) dual matches. She holds overall records of 13-3 and 16-2, respectively. In singles play, she has won her last 10 decisions, a streak that began with a 6-4, 6-1 win versus No. 30 Victoria Flores of Pepperdine (Feb. 5) and also includes a 6-3, 7-5 result against No. 86 Savannah Broadus of the Waves (April 6). On the doubles courts, Hance has teamed with Sasha Vagramov for a spotless dual-match record. The pair has clinched two doubles in Pac-12 matches with No. 20 Washington (April 1) and No. 32 Oregon (April 8).
