The Teaching and Learning Center's Instructional Designers work with faculty, librarians, software companies, and others to showcase interesting courses and uses of instructional technologies.

Topic: Scaffolding Research and Writing with Interactive Library Resources

Description: Members of UCLA Library’s Writing Instruction and Research Education (WI+RE) team will introduce the audiences to short, interactive lessons developed mainly with H5P that can be imported into Bruin Learn course sites and help students learn crucial steps of the writing and research process. The WI+RE team will also share how its design processes can be applied to instructional design more broadly, including in breaking down and addressing hidden learning outcomes, and improving instructor and student experiences.

Presenters:

Adam Bowling is a dedicated professional with over a decade of experience in instructional design, teaching, online learning, and project management. As an Instructional Designer for the UCLA Library focusing on the sciences and health sciences, Adam collaborates to create innovative learning experiences that support research and academic excellence.

Salma Abumeeiz (she/her) is a Research and Instruction Librarian at the UCLA Library. She is interested in critical pedagogy and critical librarianship.

Mohsin Ali is an instructional designer at the UCLA Library. He enjoys watching and playing basketball and learning about learning.

Helen Song works at the UCLA Library as an Instructional Designer. She enjoys mentoring students and working on learner-centered design projects.
